The story behind the Winning Formula
The Winning Formula stands out as a unique entry in the Hot Wheels lineup because it brings high-speed racing aesthetics into the standard Mainline release for collectors. This diecast model appeared during the 2017 Legends of Speed series and holds special status as a Treasure Hunt rarity. Designed by Julian Payne, this sleek open-wheel racer captures the intense energy of motorsports with its aggressive low profile and aerodynamic curves. It is much harder to find in blind bags compared to regular cars due to its limited production run. Collectors hunt for these models specifically because they carry the distinct flame logo that separates them from common issues.
Materials, colors and value
This 1/64 scale car features a fully plastic body with a striking two-tone color scheme. The exterior is finished in either glossy black or matte black, which contrasts sharply against the bright red chassis and blue interior cockpit details. It sports large racing decals that add to its authentic track-ready look. Because it is a Treasure Hunt model from 2017, this car generally commands higher value among fans than standard Mainline vehicles. Its specific color combinations and rarity make it a desirable addition for anyone building a comprehensive collection of rare Hot Wheels releases.
Questions about the Winning Formula
How can I tell if my Winning Formula is the Treasure Hunt version?+
You need to look closely at the front or rear bumper of the car. If it has a small red flame logo printed on the plastic, you have found the rare Treasure Hunt version. This special marking indicates that the model was released in smaller quantities than regular cars and is usually harder to locate in retail packs.
Is the 2017 Winning Formula considered a valuable Hot Wheels car?+
Yes, it tends to be more valuable because of its Treasure Hunt classification. These limited releases are produced in smaller batches than standard Mainline models from 2017. While values fluctuate based on condition and specific paint variants like matte or glossy black finish, collectors typically pay a premium for confirmed TH versions due to their scarcity.
Who designed the Winning Formula diecast car model?+
The design of this open-wheel racer was created by Julian Payne. He is known for developing many exciting vehicles that bring dynamic racing styles into Hot Wheels collections. The specific version released in 2017 as part of the Legends of Speed series reflects his attention to detail and dedication to motorsport themes.
