The story behind the Fangula
The Fangula stands out as a fierce piece from the 2017 Fright Cars series within the Hot Wheels Mainline lineup. Designed by Felix Holst, this model captures spooky energy with its aggressive styling and dark theme. As a Treasure Hunt release, it is much harder to spot than standard cars in a pack. Collectors know to look for the small flame logo on the base card or packaging to confirm its special status. The matte black finish gives it a ghostly vibe compared to typical glossy models. Its red accents pop against the dark bodywork perfectly. This combination of spooky design and rarity makes Fangula a standout find for anyone building a Halloween-themed collection.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model features a solid metal construction that feels durable in hand. It sits at the standard 1/64 scale found across most retail releases. The paint scheme is quite specific, featuring a matte black body with red trim details and intricate silver graphics on the sides. You will also find chrome interior elements peeking through tinted red windows. Because it was produced as a Treasure Hunt in 2017, this car generally commands higher prices than common issues today. The ZAMAC base material adds weight to the piece. Unpainted metal sections are visible near the rear and chassis area.
Questions about the Fangula
How can I tell if my Fangula is a Treasure Hunt?+
Check the card or packaging for the small flame logo usually located at the bottom. You should also see the words Treasure Hunt printed nearby on official cards. The matte black paint job itself helps distinguish this version from regular models, though the flame emblem remains the only sure way to verify authenticity without guessing.
Is Fangula a rare Hot Wheels car?+
Yes, it is considered scarce because it was released as a Treasure Hunt in 2017. These special releases appear much less frequently than standard cars during blind pack hunts. Over time, finding this specific model becomes increasingly difficult since production numbers were lower compared to everyday Mainline issues.
What does the Fangula cost today?+
Prices vary widely depending on condition and whether it comes with original packaging. Loose cars might sell for reasonable amounts, but mint examples still attached to their 2017 cards often fetch higher sums from serious collectors looking to complete specific Fright Cars sets.
