The story behind the HW Pursuit
The HW Pursuit made a strong impact in 2017 as part of the HW Rescue series for adult collectors. Designed by Fraser Campbell with the SKU DVD04, this model stands out because it was released as a Treasure Hunt. These special editions are marked with a small flame logo on the base and appear much less frequently than standard Mainline cars. The design features an aggressive Sheriff theme, complete with distinct red accents and official badging along the side panels. This 1/64 scale cruiser captures high-speed law enforcement action in miniature form.
Materials, colors and value
This specific casting is built primarily from plastic rather than metal. It usually appears in a deep black body color paired with a dark interior to match its tactical police styling. The most recognizable feature on the side graphics includes red stripes and bold white lettering that reads Sheriff, which helps identify this version immediately. Because it carries Treasure Hunt status, many owners keep their examples sealed or handle them very carefully.
Questions about the HW Pursuit
Is the HW Pursuit considered a rare Hot Wheels car?+
Yes, because it was released as a Treasure Hunt model in 2017. These cars are inserted into packs at lower rates than standard vehicles and feature a flame logo on the base for identification.
How can I tell if my HW Pursuit is real?+
Check the underside of the chassis carefully. An authentic 2017 Treasure Hunt model will always display a small, distinct red or gold flame logo near the rear wheels on the plastic base.
Is this diecast car made out of metal?+
No, this specific casting is constructed from durable plastic. While some Hot Wheels models have solid zinc alloy bodies, this Sheriff themed vehicle relies entirely on molded plastic for its main chassis and body shell.
