The story behind the Blade Raider
The Blade Raider is a futuristic racing concept that made its debut in the Hot Wheels lineup during 2017. Designed by Ryu Asada, this model belongs to the HW Digital Circuit series and features an aggressive stance with large off-road tires and massive rear wings for stability at high speeds. What makes this specific example truly special is its designation as a Chase car. Chase models are hidden variants produced in smaller quantities than standard releases within Mainline assortments. Finding one requires patience, luck, or searching through entire cases to spot the unique packaging markers that set it apart from common finds.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast replica features a bright green plastic body with matching yellow base details and bold purple window tinting. The interior includes unpainted parts alongside chrome accents for added contrast. Measuring at 1/64 scale, the Blade Raider captures all the intricate design elements of its full-sized counterpart in miniature form. Because it is identified as a Chase variant from 2017 with SKU DVD16, this particular configuration commands significantly higher interest among dedicated enthusiasts compared to regular distribution versions.
Questions about the Blade Raider
How do I know if my Blade Raider is actually the chase version?+
Chase cars from the Mainline series are typically much harder to find in blind bags than standard models. In recent years, manufacturers have started adding unique color codes or specific paint treatments on the packaging itself so buyers can identify them without opening every single pack individually.
Is this green Blade Raider considered a valuable collectible today?+
Yes, because Chase models are intentionally produced in lower numbers than regular Mainline releases. The combination of being part of the sought-after HW Digital Circuit theme from 2017 and having that specific rare yellow base makes it stand out as something more desirable for serious collectors.
Who designed this car and when did it first appear?+
The Blade Raider was created by designer Ryu Asada. It originally launched back in 2017 under the HW Digital Circuit theme group, which focused heavily on futuristic and tech-inspired vehicle concepts that looked completely different from traditional street cars or trucks.
