The story behind the '68 Chevy Nova
This 2018 release of the '68 Chevy Nova stands out as a highly sought after Super Treasure Hunt model from the HW Flames series. Designed by Phil Riehlman, this version captures the spirit of American muscle with its iconic purple paint and dramatic flame graphics. As part of the Mainline assortment but carrying that rare designation, it represents one of those hidden gems collectors search for at retail stores every year. The combination of a classic 1/64 scale replica with premium detailing makes it special within any collection. Super Treasure Hunts are known for being incredibly difficult to find because they appear in limited quantities mixed among standard cars.
Materials, colors and value
The car features a base constructed from ZAMAC metal and an unpainted plastic body that showcases Spectraflame purple paint with vibrant orange flames wrapping around the sides. It sits on classic black wheels with yellow rims which complement the aggressive styling perfectly. Black tinted windows frame the detailed interior while chrome bumpers add shine to the front end. Collectors prize these models heavily because Super Treasure Hunts command higher market prices due to their scarcity and unique finishes compared to standard releases.
Questions about the '68 Chevy Nova
How can I tell if my '68 Chevy Nova is a super treasure hunt?+
Look for the small flame logo printed on the side of the car near the rear wheel well. This specific model also features Spectraflame purple paint which has a distinct deep metallic look that differs from regular painted finishes found in standard Mainline releases.
Is this 2018 Nova considered rare today?+
Yes it is quite rare. Super Treasure Hunt models are produced in significantly lower numbers than normal cars and were only available through lucky store pulls back in 2018 making them very hard to find now.
What does a super treasure hunt Chevy Nova cost?+
Prices vary widely depending on condition but expect to pay much more than regular Hot Wheels due to rarity. Unopened cars in original packaging typically fetch high prices while loose examples still hold strong collector value.
