The story behind the NISSAN SKYLINE 2000 GT-R
The Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R appears in the 2018 Mainline release as part of the Then and Now series. This specific model carries a Super Treasure Hunt rarity, making it one of the most exciting finds for anyone hunting through retail packs that year. Designed by Jun Imai under SKU FKB49, this diecast captures a legendary Japanese sports car from decades past. As a Super Treasure Hunt, it features premium details meant to reward dedicated collectors who look carefully at their purchases.
Materials, colors and value
Built on a plastic base in the standard 1/64 scale, this model highlights an all-blue color scheme that matches its real-life heritage. The paintwork includes a special Spectraflame blue finish over regular blue sections, giving it a distinct shimmer under light. Black windows and black interior details complete the look without distracting from the exterior shine. Because of its limited Super Treasure Hunt status and unique paint treatment, collectors often place higher value on this version compared to standard mainline releases.
Questions about the NISSAN SKYLINE 2000 GT-R
How do I know if my 2018 Nissan Skyline is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
You can identify this car by checking for the Spectraflame paint finish, which has a special metallic shimmer compared to standard solid colors. Additionally, look closely at the packaging or base near the rear wheel area for a small flame logo icon printed on it.
Is the 2018 Skyline Super Treasure Hunt hard to find today?+
Yes, this model is considered rare because Super Treasure Hunts were produced in much smaller quantities than regular cars. Since they were randomly packed into retail cases during their initial release window back in 2018, finding one loose or still sealed now requires patience.
Does the base material affect how valuable this Hot Wheels car is?+
While most standard cars use plastic bases to keep costs down for mass production, rarity matters far more. The Super Treasure Hunt designation makes this specific Nissan Skyline significantly more desirable and potentially worth more money than a common mainline version with identical styling.
