The story behind the Corvette Stingray
The 2019 Corvette Stingray stands out as a special Treasure Hunt release within the Mainline series. This model was part of the Super Chromes assortment, which gave it a distinct and shiny appearance on store shelves. Designed by Larry Wood, this version captures the aggressive lines of the real sports car in diecast form. As a Treasure Hunt, it is significantly rarer than standard releases, making it a prized find for collectors who hunt through boxes looking for that small flame logo on the base. The 2019 model year places it firmly in recent modern history, and its chrome finish reflects light beautifully, adding to its visual appeal.
Materials, colors and value
This Hot Wheels car features a solid metal base made of ZAMAC with an unpainted raw finish. The body is finished in a bright Chrome paint that covers the entire exterior shell. It comes with tinted red windows or clear red plastic depending on the specific production run, giving it a sporty look inside. The scale is 1/64, which is standard for Mainline vehicles and fits perfectly into most display cases. Collectors often seek this piece because of its Treasure Hunt status and unique Super Chromes theme. It holds value due to its limited nature compared to everyday releases.
Questions about the Corvette Stingray
How do I know if my 2019 Corvette Stingray is a Treasure Hunt?+
Look closely at the metal base of your car. A genuine Treasure Hunt will have a small flame logo stamped or printed directly on it. This symbol indicates that the model was produced in much smaller quantities than regular Mainline cars, making it harder to find and more valuable to collectors who complete their sets.
What is special about the Super Chromes series?+
The Super Chromes assortment features vehicles with highly reflective chrome paint finishes instead of standard solid colors. This gives them a mirror-like shine that catches light from every angle. The 2019 Corvette Stingray in this series uses Chrome on both body panels, creating a bold and futuristic look that stands out clearly among other cars.
Is the Larry Wood designed Corvette Stingray common or rare?+
It is considered rare because it was released as a Treasure Hunt model. These special editions are hidden randomly in cases alongside regular cars, so you cannot order them directly from stores. Finding one usually requires checking many boxes, which increases its scarcity and desirability among serious collectors who want to add unique pieces.
