The story behind the Mazda RX-7
The Mazda RX-7 holds a special place in Hot Wheels history as an iconic rotary engine sports car. In 2020, this model returned for collectors as part of the Speed Blur series within the standard Mainline assortment. However, it is not just another regular release. This specific version is classified as a Super Treasure Hunt. These ultra-rare variants are hidden among mass-produced cards and are highly sought after by serious hobbyists. Designed by Jun Imai with SKU GHG28, this car captures the racing spirit of the original vehicle while offering exclusive collectible status.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model features a plastic base material finished in vibrant Spectraflame Orange paint. The glossy metallic finish is the defining trait that sets it apart from standard retail versions. It comes with detailed silver wheel rims and tinted windows to complete its look. As a Super Treasure Hunt release, this car tends to hold significant value compared to ordinary Mainline models. Collectors prize these items for their unique colorways and limited availability. The high-gloss orange body stands out on any display shelf.
Questions about the Mazda RX-7
How do I know if my Mazda RX-7 is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
Look closely at the base of the car. A true Super Treasure Hunt will have a small flame logo printed near the model number or SKU code on the bottom. This specific 2020 version also features Spectraflame paint, which has a distinctively shiny and deep metallic finish that looks different from standard solid colors.
Is this Hot Wheels Mazda RX-7 considered rare?+
Yes, it is quite rare. Super Treasure Hunt models are produced in very limited numbers compared to regular Mainline cars. They are often hidden inside blind bags or specific case lots without any prior notice. Because they appear so infrequently on store shelves, finding this exact orange version can be a challenge for shoppers.
What is the typical value of a 2020 Mazda RX-7 Super Treasure Hunt?+
Values vary depending on condition and whether it still has its original packaging. Since Super Treasure Hunts are limited edition, they often sell for higher prices than regular cars once people realize what they have. Check recent sales listings online to see current market trends before buying or selling this specific item.
