The story behind the Fangster
The Fangster brings a wild prehistoric vibe to any collection with its unique dinosaur-inspired design. Released in 2024 as part of the HW City series within the popular 5-Pack assortment, this model stands out for its playful and aggressive styling. Designed by Larry Wood, it features a sculpted purple body that mimics reptile scales, complete with yellow accents on the engine block and wheels to add contrast. While 5-Packs are often seen as entry-level sets aimed at younger fans, models like the Fangster appeal equally to adult collectors who appreciate distinct themes and fun character cars.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model measures in at a standard 1/64 scale and uses an unpainted metal base chassis with plastic details for durability. The primary visual highlight is the bright purple body featuring detailed molding that resembles dinosaur skin, accented by bold yellow graphics on the side vents and engine area. Collectors often seek out these specific color combinations to complete themed sets or add variety to their displays. Although 5-Pack exclusives are generally more affordable than individual retail releases due to higher production volumes, unique designs like this one still hold steady value for dedicated fans.
