The story behind the Skate Grom
Skate Grom brings action sports energy directly to your Hot Wheels collection in a fun, unconventional way. Released as part of the HW Xtreme Sports series during 2024, this Mainline model captures the dynamic movement of skateboarding rather than focusing on traditional automotive design. Designer Fraser Campbell created a piece that celebrates youth culture and athletic skill with its distinctive figure riding a deck. Because it belongs to the core retail lineup, Skate Grom is widely available for shoppers who want unique action figures alongside their standard cars. The bright red board contrasts sharply against the rider's blue tones, making this diecast model stand out on any shelf or display case.
Materials, colors and value
This specific release features a sturdy metal base providing weight and durability typical of Mainline products at 1/64 scale. You will notice several color variations depending on the batch purchased. The board deck appears in vibrant red while the rider figure comes in solid Blue, Light Blue, or shiny Metalflake Light Blue. Some versions also feature an unpainted metallic finish for certain parts of the base. Collectors appreciate these subtle differences between manufacturing runs since they add variety to a single design. While generally affordable due to mass production availability, unique interior color combinations can hold special interest among dedicated hobbyists looking to complete their HW Xtreme sets.
