The story behind the Speed Trap
The Speed Trap offers a unique look at law enforcement in the Hot Wheels universe with its futuristic police cruiser design. Released as part of the 2024 Multi-Pack Exclusives series by designer Kevin Cao, this car stands out for being sold only in multi-car packages rather than standard single retail boxes. It captures the imagination with its distinct HWPD livery and sleek lines that suggest high-speed chases through neon-lit city streets. While not a rare Treasure Hunt model found on individual tracks, it is an exclusive find reserved specifically for collectors who buy larger bundles of cars.
Materials, colors and value
This specific casting features an all-plastic body construction typical of value-focused multi-pack releases, making it durable and lightweight for quick racing games. The exterior finish comes in a striking olive green shade that contrasts nicely with the black base components. Inside, you will notice blue tinted windows paired with solid black interior details to complete the official look. Being a 1/64 scale model allows it to fit easily into most standard track systems or display cases alongside other mainline cars without taking up much room.
Questions about the Speed Trap
How can I identify if my Speed Trap car is genuine?+
You can verify authenticity by checking the base for the correct SKU code HG058 printed on it. Additionally, look at the specific olive green paint and black wheels that match official photos from 2024 releases to ensure your copy matches standard production details exactly.
Is this Speed Trap car considered a rare collectible item?+
It is classified as an exclusive found only within multi-pack assortments rather than single retail tracks. This means it has limited availability compared to regular mainline cars but generally lacks the extreme scarcity associated with premium Treasure Hunt or Super Treasure Hunt releases.
What materials are used in making this diecast model?+
Unlike higher-end models featuring metal bodies, this particular version utilizes a fully plastic construction for both its main body and base components. This design choice helps keep costs lower while ensuring the car remains durable enough to handle frequent play on tracks.
