The story behind the Custom '72 Chevy LUV
The Custom '72 Chevy LUV brings serious hot rod attitude to a classic compact pickup truck in its 2024 release. Designed by Ryu Asada for the ZAMAC Themed Multipack, this model captures that raw street-rod aesthetic perfectly with an unpainted metal body and bright green accents. Instead of hiding inside blister packs on store shelves, these trucks appeared together in themed sets designed to give collectors a variety of metallic finishes at once. The sculpting features aggressive styling cues like the massive hood scoop that hints at serious power under the hood. Fans of custom truck culture will appreciate how Hot Wheels transformed this practical vehicle into a show-stopping cruiser with its low stance and bold color scheme.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast casting utilizes an unpainted ZAMAC body to create a raw, industrial look that collectors love for its unique texture and metallic sheen. The silver metal finish contrasts sharply against the green plastic base pieces and matching green tinted windows found throughout this specific variation. Inside the cab, you will notice chrome interior details adding a touch of shine beneath the glass. Measuring in at 1/64 scale, it fits perfectly on standard display tracks or inside your collection case alongside other vintage trucks. While these models do not typically command high prices like Treasure Hunts, they hold steady value for fans wanting to complete their ZAMAC series sets.
Questions about the Custom '72 Chevy LUV
Is the Custom '72 Chevy LUV from 2024 rare?+
This model is part of a themed multipack rather than a mainline or Treasure Hunt release, meaning it was produced in standard quantities for that specific set. It is not considered extremely rare since multiple copies were distributed within those packs. However, finding them separated individually can sometimes be harder depending on local store availability and how quickly collectors snapped up the full sets.
What does ZAMAC mean on this Hot Wheels car?+
ZAMAC is a specific zinc alloy used to cast many older style diecast vehicles. On this model, it refers to the unpainted silver metal body which gives the truck its distinct metallic finish and heavier weight compared to standard painted cars. The ZAMAC Themed Multipack highlights these raw material finishes across several different models.
How do I identify the correct version of this Chevy LUV?+
You can verify your specific car by checking for Ryu Asada as the designer and looking at color combinations. This 2024 release features an unpainted ZAMAC body paired with green bases, chrome interiors, and green tinted windows. The unique hood scoop design is also a key identifier that distinguishes it from other standard truck models.
