The story behind the Count Muscula
The Count Muscula returns in 2026 as part of the Hot Wheels XL lineup, offering a larger-than-life take on Mattel's classic custom muscle car designs. Originally created by designer Dwayne Vance, this model brings back the aggressive racing aesthetic with its bold red paint and sleek black accents. The 1/43 scale version gives collectors more detail to admire while staying true to the original spirit of Hot Wheels creativity. As part of a special series rather than standard Mainline releases, XL models like this one are built for display as well as play.
Materials, colors and value
This Count Muscula is made from durable plastic and features a glossy red body with black racing stripes that run along the hood and roof. The interior is finished in black, while window options include smoke, tinted gray, and clear variations across different production runs. Silver detailing on the base adds contrast to the overall design. Since it belongs to the Hot Wheels XL series at 1/43 scale, this model sits between traditional collectible size and toy car dimensions, making it a solid choice for fans who want something bigger than regular diecast but still display-friendly.
