The story behind the '86 Toyota Van
This 2026 release brings a fresh look to a classic retro shape with the '86 Toyota Van from The Hot Ones 2 series. Designed by Sonny Fisher, this model arrives as part of the Target Retro assortment available at specific retail locations. It captures that iconic early 1990s aesthetic with its boxy styling and bold graphics. As a member of The Hot Ones lineup, it stands out for collectors looking to complete their set from the current year. The vibrant turquoise finish makes this van an eye-catching addition to any display shelf or collection case.
Materials, colors and value
This model is built on a durable plastic base in silver with metalflake details that catch the light nicely. It features a striking Spectraflame Turquoise body color, which adds depth and shine compared to standard paint finishes. The interior sits in black while blue-tinted windows provide transparency without blocking view of the seats inside completely. Being 1/64 scale means it fits perfectly alongside other regular diecast cars on display shelves or within standard storage boxes designed for these miniature vehicles.
Questions about the '86 Toyota Van
How rare is this Target Retro Hot Ones van?+
Target Retros are exclusive store releases but generally produced in larger quantities than Treasure Hunts. They remain collectible because you can only find them at select Target locations, making regional availability a factor for some collectors who seek specific items from their local area.
What materials was this van made with?+
The vehicle utilizes a plastic base colored in silver rather than full metal construction typical of premium lines. This keeps production costs lower while maintaining durability for everyday handling by children or casual collectors who enjoy playing with their miniature car collections regularly.
Is the turquoise color special?+
Yes, it uses Spectraflame Turquoise which gives off a unique metallic shimmer different from flat standard colors. This type of finish reflects light beautifully and adds visual interest when placed under display lighting or viewed against contrasting backgrounds in your collection setup.
