The story behind the Custom '18 Ford Mustang GT
The Custom '18 Ford Mustang GT from 2022 stands out as a true gem for any serious Hot Wheels collector. As part of the Spoiler Alert series, this model features an aggressive look with a massive rear wing and custom graphics that scream speed. It is not just another standard release because it holds Super Treasure Hunt status. This designation makes it one of the most highly sought after models in the entire Mainline lineup. Designed by Ryu Asada, this car captures the excitement of finding something truly special on the retail shelf.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model comes at a 1/64 scale and features a plastic body construction typical for Super Treasure Hunts. The finish is iconic Spectraflame red, which gives it a deep metallic shine compared to standard paint jobs. You will find details like smoke tinted windows and white interior seats through the glass. A small flame logo on the base confirms its rare status immediately. Because of this special treatment and limited production run, these cars tend to hold higher value among collectors who want complete series sets or specific finishes.
Questions about the Custom '18 Ford Mustang GT
How can I tell if my Custom '18 Ford Mustang GT is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
Check the base of the car for a small flame logo sticker. This symbol identifies any Hot Wheels model as part of the special Treasure Hunt series. For this specific release, it also features Spectraflame red paint on the body rather than standard solid colors.
Is this 2022 Mustang GT considered rare?+
Yes, Super Treasure Hunts are significantly rarer than regular Mainline cars. They appear in much smaller quantities during blind bag shopping runs at stores. Collectors often hunt specifically for these models due to their limited availability and unique finishes.
What does the SKU HCY18 mean?+
This is simply a stock keeping unit code used by Mattel to track inventory. The first letters help identify the year or production batch while numbers denote specific mold variations within that timeframe for internal logistics.
