The story behind the '63 Studebaker Champ
The 2022 release of the '63 Studebaker Champ brings a serious level of excitement for vintage truck fans. Designed by Phil Riehlman, this model appears in the HW Hot Trucks series but carries much more weight than standard models due to its Super Treasure Hunt status. This rarity tier is highly coveted because it features special paint and unique details that regular versions lack. The design captures a classic racing aesthetic with bold graphics on the sides. It stands out immediately in any case thanks to its deep, shimmering black finish. Collectors know this specific casting represents one of the most elusive finds from that year's production runs.
Materials, colors and value
This miniature truck features a plastic body construction painted in Spectraflame black, which gives it a distinct metallic shine under light. The interior components and base are solid black to match the exterior tone. Clear windows allow you to see inside while keeping the focus on the detailed side art. As a Super Treasure Hunt release with SKU HCY14, this car holds significant value among serious hobbyists. These special editions are far harder to find than common Mainline cars. The combination of rare casting and premium finish makes it a centerpiece item for dedicated diecast collections.
Questions about the '63 Studebaker Champ
How do I identify the Super Treasure Hunt Studebaker Champ?+
You can spot this special edition by looking for the distinct Spectraflame black paint job. Unlike standard models, it features a shimmering metallic finish that reflects light differently. Check for specific racing graphics on the doors and hood area. The base usually has unique markings indicating its limited status rather than typical retail packaging codes.
Is this Super Treasure Hunt model worth more money?+
Yes, these models are generally much harder to find compared to regular releases. Because they were produced in smaller numbers for special displays and events, supply is very limited right now. Demand remains high among collectors looking to complete their series or add rare items.
What scale is this Studebaker Champ diecast car?+
The '63 Studebaker Champ is produced in the standard 1/64 scale size used by most Hot Wheels mainline vehicles. This makes it easy to display alongside other modern trucks and cars from your collection without needing special shelving.
