The story behind the '94 Audi Avant RS2
The '94 Audi Avant RS2 from Hot Wheels captures the spirit of a legendary high-performance wagon in an exclusive format. Released in 2022 as part of the HW Wagons series, this model stands out significantly because it is classified as a Super Treasure Hunt. This special designation means collectors should look for the distinct Spectraflame paint finish on the body rather than standard plastic coloring. Designed by Ryu Asada and identified by SKU HCY22, the car represents the upper tier of rarity within the mainline assortment. The deep Brilliant Black hue gives it a stealthy and premium appearance that is highly sought after by fans of European sports wagons.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model features a plastic base material typical for this series but gains visual depth through its unique paint application. While standard versions are solid black, the Super Treasure Hunt variation uses Spectraflame Brilliant Black to create a textured metallic look that shifts in light. The car includes detailed window variations such as smoke and gray tints along with an all-black interior. Being a rare 1/64 scale release from 2022, it commands attention on any shelf due to its limited production run compared to regular mainline cars.
Questions about the '94 Audi Avant RS2
How can I tell if my '94 Audi Avant RS2 is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
You need to examine the body paint finish carefully. Standard models have flat, solid black plastic bodies. The Super Treasure Hunt version features Spectraflame Brilliant Black paint which has a distinct metallic flake and texture. This unique shimmering effect is the key indicator that you own this rare variant.
Is this Audi RS2 wagon considered rare for collectors?+
Yes, it is very rare because Super Treasure Hunts are produced in much smaller quantities than standard Mainline cars. They do not appear frequently on retail shelves and usually require searching through many packs or checking secondary markets to find one.
What year was this specific Audi model released by Hot Wheels?+
This car was officially released in 2022 as part of the HW Wagons series. It carries the SKU HCY22 and was designed by Ryu Asada to fit into that annual collection theme alongside other station wagon models.
