The story behind the Sharkruiser
The Sharkruiser brings a wild twist to the standard lineup as a special Treasure Hunt model from 2019. Designed by Larry Wood for the Street Beasts series, this vehicle transforms a fearsome ocean predator into a fast street machine. As a Treasure Hunt release, it is significantly rarer than typical Mainline cars found in everyday store packs. Collectors specifically hunt for these items because they feature unique paint schemes and limited availability compared to standard editions. The 2019 version captures the aggressive spirit of the series with its distinct shark shape and chrome details. It stands out on display shelves due to its metallic purple finish that shifts between light and deep tones depending on the lighting angle.
Materials, colors and value
This 1/64 scale model features a plastic body construction typical for Hot Wheels casting designs at this price point. The exterior paint is one of several variations, including Metalflake Light Purple or standard shades of purple. Underneath, it sits on black tires that match the sleek aesthetic. Inside the cockpit area, you will find bright chrome accents rather than traditional upholstery colors. Because it carries a Treasure Hunt designation with SKU FYG02, this car holds higher value among serious collectors who track down specific year releases.
Questions about the Sharkruiser
How do I know if my Sharkruiser is the rare Treasure Hunt version?+
Look closely at the base of your diecast car near the rear wheel wells. If you see a small flame logo printed there, it confirms this specific unit is an official Treasure Hunt release from 2019 rather than a standard production run model.
What does the purple color on the Sharkruiser actually look like in person?+
The body paint varies slightly between different manufacturing batches. You may find versions with a metallic flake finish that shimmers under light or simpler flat purple tones. Both styles feature bold blue graphics along the side to represent water splashes.
Why are Street Beasts cars harder to find in regular packs?+
Street Beasts models often appear as part of special sub-series like Treasure Hunts within larger assortments. This means they are intentionally produced in lower quantities than everyday vehicles, making them much less common for shoppers browsing standard checkout displays.
