The story behind the Velocita
The Velocita stands as a legendary gem from the world of diecast collecting. Released in 2017 within the HW Exotics series, this car captures the imagination with its sleek and futuristic styling. Designed by Paul DeLorean, it features aggressive curves and sharp lines that define high-speed performance on a miniature scale. What makes this specific model truly special is its classification as a Super Treasure Hunt. These are extremely rare versions found only in very limited quantities during mass releases. The car commands attention immediately with its stunning Spectraflame Purple finish. This unique paint job shimmers like the original classic models from the 1970s and 80s, adding significant nostalgia value for serious enthusiasts.
Materials, colors and value
This Hot Wheels model is built on a plastic base but features exceptional detailing that elevates its status among collectors. The Spectraflame Purple body paint offers a metallic sheen that changes with the light, creating a dynamic visual effect unmatched by standard finishes. You will notice crisp white stripes running along the hood and sides to break up the purple color scheme. The interior displays chrome details behind smoke tinted windows, giving it a custom look. With SKU DVC98, this 1/64 scale vehicle is highly sought after due to its rarity. Owners often display these pieces carefully because of their delicate paint.
Questions about the Velocita
What makes the 2017 Velocita a Super Treasure Hunt?+
The 2017 Velocita is designated as a Super Treasure Hunt because it features Spectraflame paint and special details not found on standard models. This specific variant was produced in extremely low numbers compared to regular Mainline cars, making it one of the hardest Hot Wheels releases to find.
How do I identify a real Super Treasure Hunt Velocita?+
Look for the small flame logo on the base card if you have packaging. On the car itself, check for the glossy Spectraflame Purple paint finish and chrome interior details behind smoke windows. The white racing stripes are also key identifiers that distinguish this version from other releases.
Is the Velocita considered a valuable collectible today?+
Yes, because it is classified as a Super Treasure Hunt, value tends to be higher than average models. Collectors prize these cars for their rarity and unique paint jobs. Well-preserved examples in good condition often command strong prices on secondary markets due to limited availability.
