The story behind the Pharodox
The Pharodox is a standout model from the 2017 Hot Wheels Mainline series. Designed by Fraser Campbell, this futuristic vehicle captured attention with its sleek and angular shape. It was released as part of the Super Chromes sub-series that year. Being a Treasure Hunt makes it much more than just another regular release. Collectors actively seek out these special models because they are harder to find on store shelves. You can spot a genuine 2017 Pharodox by looking for the small flame logo on its base or packaging. The gold chrome finish gives it a bold look that fits perfectly with the Super Chromes theme. Many fans remember hunting through bins hoping to uncover this specific gem during their weekly shopping trips.
Materials, colors and value
This 1/64 scale model features a durable metal body and chassis. The exterior shines with a striking Gold Chrome paint job that reflects light beautifully under display cases. Inside, you will find black interior details along with tinted windows in shades of turquoise or blue depending on the specific variant produced. ZAMAC base versions are particularly popular among enthusiasts who appreciate raw metallic aesthetics. While regular Mainline cars hold steady value, Treasure Hunt editions like this one often command higher prices due to their limited production run and unique status within the collection.
Questions about the Pharodox
How do I identify a genuine Hot Wheels Pharodox from 2017?+
Look for the flame logo printed on the base of the car or clearly visible on its original packaging. This symbol indicates it is an official Treasure Hunt model rather than a standard release. The gold chrome finish and specific window tints also help confirm authenticity against counterfeit items.
Is the 2017 Pharodox considered rare today?+
Yes, as a designated Treasure Hunt car from over five years ago, it holds significant rarity compared to common Mainline releases. While not impossible to find in secondary markets, its limited initial production run means supply is lower than demand among dedicated collectors seeking complete sets.
What should I expect when buying this collectible diecast?+
Prices vary widely based on condition and whether the car remains loose or stays in original packaging. Mint examples with intact flame logos typically fetch higher amounts online. Always check seller ratings carefully since vintage status increases value significantly for well-preserved pieces without scratches.
