The story behind the '63 Chevy II
The 2017 HW Flames series brought a lot of heat to Mainline packs, but few models caught eyes like this Super Treasure Hunt '63 Chevy II. Designed by Ryu Asada, this car stands out because it is not just another flame job in the blister pack. It features exclusive Spectraflame Pink paint that shimmers with incredible depth and clarity under light. This specific release carries the SKU DVC89 and represents a special moment for collectors who were hunting through packs during that year. The classic body style fits perfectly into the Hot Wheels lineup, yet its premium finish elevates it above standard retail issues.
Materials, colors and value
This model scales at 1/64 and uses a durable plastic base to support the vibrant details on top. While many cars in this series featured painted metal bodies, this Super Treasure Hunt variant relies entirely on Spectraflame Pink paint for its signature glow. The chrome accents on the grille and bumpers contrast sharply with the fiery orange and yellow flames that flow along the hood and sides. Black windows provide a sleek backdrop to show off these colors even better.
Questions about the '63 Chevy II
How do I know if my '63 Chevy II is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
You can identify this car by looking closely at the paint finish. Regular versions have standard glossy enamel or plastic paint, but the Super Treasure Hunt version features Spectraflame Pink that has a distinct pearlescent shimmer. It should glow brightly when you move it under different lighting angles compared to normal packs.
Is the 2017 HW Flames '63 Chevy II rare for collectors?+
Yes, this car is considered very hard to find today. As a Super Treasure Hunt release from 2017, it was hidden inside blind packs at extremely low odds compared to regular cars. Because these special releases are highly sought after by enthusiasts who want the best versions of their favorite themes, finding one in perfect condition remains challenging.
What is the base material used for this specific diecast model?+
Although Hot Wheels often uses metal bases like ZAMAC or chrome for special editions, this particular 2017 release actually sits on a plastic base. The focus of this Super Treasure Hunt car was clearly on achieving that flawless Spectraflame Pink finish rather than using heavy metal construction.
