The story behind the TV Series Batmobile
The TV Series Batmobile released in 2016 stands as a standout piece for any Hot Wheels collector because of its unique status within the Batman series. While Mainline cars are usually easy to find, this specific model is a Super Treasure Hunt. That designation means it is extremely rare and highly sought after by shoppers who look for special releases at toy stores. Designed by Phil Riehlman under SKU DHT88, this car captures the classic 1960s television styling with modern Hot Wheels flair. It features a distinctive Spectraflame Black finish that glows under blacklight, making it visually striking compared to standard models. Finding one of these in mint condition is a real achievement since they are produced in much smaller quantities than regular Mainline releases.
Materials, colors and value
This collectible vehicle sits at the high end of rarity within the Hot Wheels catalog thanks to its special paint treatment and limited availability. The body uses Spectraflame Black material, which gives it that signature metallic shine visible under ultraviolet light. Most other parts are made from durable plastic with a gray interior base. You will notice clear windows along with subtle red accent lines running down the side panels near the iconic bat symbol. Because Super Treasure Hunts like this one are incredibly hard to find in retail packs, they often carry higher value among dedicated collectors who hunt for these exclusive variants.
Questions about the TV Series Batmobile
How do I know if my TV Series Batmobile is a real Super Treasure Hunt?+
You can identify this special edition by looking closely at the packaging. A genuine Super Treasure Hunt will have a unique sticker on the window with the Super Treasure Hunt logo and code DHT88 printed clearly inside it. The car itself usually features Spectraflame paint that shines brightly under blacklight instead of standard glossy finish found on regular Mainline models released during 2016.
Is this Hot Wheels Batmobile worth a lot to collectors today?+
Yes, it generally holds significant value due to its rarity. Super Treasure Hunt items are produced in much smaller numbers than standard Mainline releases from the 2016 Batman series. Collectors pay premium prices for mint-in-card copies because of their scarcity and unique Spectraflame Black finish. Keeping your copy sealed or near perfect condition helps maintain that higher market value over time.
Where could I find a Super Treasure Hunt Batmobile from 2016?+
You will rarely spot these on store shelves today since they were limited releases back in 2016. Your best bet is checking online collector forums, specialized diecast marketplaces, or auction sites where enthusiasts sell their rare finds. Always verify the SKU code DHT88 and look for authentic Super Treasure Hunt branding to ensure you are getting a legitimate version.
