The story behind the Raijin Express
The Raijin Express brings serious thunder to the 2023 Hot Wheels lineup as a standout Treasure Hunt release. Designed by Ryu Asada for the HW Haulers series, this truck channels Japanese storm god energy with its aggressive styling and vibrant red finish. Unlike standard Mainline cars found in most packs, the Raijin Express carries that coveted flame logo, signaling its rarity right from the start. It stands out on the shelf due to a striking side decal featuring stylized waves and lettering, paired perfectly with purple tinted windows. Collectors hunt for these limited editions because they appear much less frequently than regular stock cars.
Materials, colors and value
Built at a classic 1/64 scale, this vehicle features a sturdy metal base that gives it a satisfying weight in hand. The body is painted a bold red color while the chassis utilizes unpainted ZAMAC material for contrast. This specific combination of materials and graphics helps identify genuine examples quickly. Because Treasure Hunt models are produced in smaller quantities within standard blister packs, finding one can be an exciting challenge at retail stores.
