The story behind the '68 Corvette - Gas Monkey Garage
The 2023 release of the '68 Corvette, Gas Monkey Garage stands out as a top-tier find for any diecast enthusiast. Released in the HW Dream Garage series by designer Ryu Asada, this specific model carries the prestigious Super Treasure Hunt designation. These special editions are incredibly hard to spot on retail shelves because they lack standard packaging clues and feature unique paint treatments. This car takes a classic American muscle shape and turns it into a street rod masterpiece with custom flames and a massive chrome supercharger. Because of its limited nature and stunning Spectraflame Gold finish, it is considered one of the most exciting discoveries in the 2023 lineup.
Materials, colors and value
This collectible model comes at the standard 1/64 scale for Hot Wheels vehicles. While the chassis base material is plastic, the body boasts a highly desirable Spectraflame gold paint that gives it a deep metallic glow. The design includes detailed flame graphics on the doors and hood along with chrome interior accents. A striking dark purple lower rocker panel adds strong visual contrast to the warm gold tones. Smoke tinted windows complete the custom look. For collectors, Super Treasure Hunt models like this one hold significant value due to their scarcity compared to regular Mainline cars.
