The story behind the DMC DeLorean
The DMC DeLorean holds a legendary status in automotive history thanks to its starring role in popular culture, making any version of this car highly desirable for collectors. This specific model appeared in the 2023 Mainline lineup under the Red Edition theme. Instead of the traditional stainless steel finish associated with the real vehicle, this diecast casting sports a bold red body that stands out on the track. Designed by Manson Cheung, the design captures the iconic angular lines and pop-up headlights while adding racing stripes for extra flair. As part of the core Mainline series, it serves as an accessible entry point for new collectors looking to add a piece of movie history to their collection without hunting down rare limited editions.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast replica features a plastic body construction typical of standard Mainline releases in this category. The exterior is painted red with distinct white and black racing stripes running along the sides, complemented by silver wheels that provide visual contrast against the bright paint job. Underneath, the car sits on a solid black base with a matching black interior visible through smoke or tinted windows depending on the specific pack variation. With an SKU of HKL62, this model fits into standard 1/64 scale track systems and storage displays perfectly.

This model uses a vibrant red finish with racing decals, making it a distinct variation for enthusiasts who want variety.
Is the 2023 DMC DeLorean rare?+
This specific release is part of the standard Mainline assortment, meaning it was produced in large quantities and distributed to regular retail stores. It does not carry a Treasure Hunt or Chase designation, so you will likely find plenty of them available on secondary markets if you are looking to buy one.
How can I identify this specific casting?+
You can verify the authenticity and version by checking the base of the car. The SKU HKL62 is printed directly underneath near the wheels. This code matches the 2023 Red Edition release designed by Manson Cheung, ensuring you have the correct variant for your records.
