The story behind the Honda Civic Si
The Honda Civic Si from the Target Retro line offers a fresh take on a classic JDM icon for 2023 collectors. Part of the Ultra Hots Mix 1 series, this release leans heavily into nostalgia with its distinct visual identity. The car features an eye-catching Spectraflame Deep Blue body that shifts tones under light, complemented by bold white and yellow lightning graphics along the sides. This specific assortment targets fans who enjoy unique colorways not found in standard Mainline packs. The design team, including Alec Tam and Dave Martis, ensured the model captures the sporty spirit of the Civic Si with a detailed black interior and smoke tinted windows. As part of a multi-pack mix sold exclusively at Target, it appeals to those looking for specific retail exclusives without the high price tag of premium metal models.
Materials, colors and value
Built on a plastic base in the standard 1/64 scale, this model prioritizes vibrant paint over heavy diecast weight. The body showcases multiple blue variations alongside Spectraflame finishes and graphic overlays. Collectors often value Target Retro cars for their unique color schemes that disappear after a year or two. Because it is part of a mix rather than a single pack release, the market price usually reflects its availability in local stores. The black wheels and interior provide a clean contrast to the bright blue exterior.
Questions about the Honda Civic Si
Is the Target Retro Honda Civic Si hard to find?+
It is generally easier to locate than Super Treasure Hunts, but it was sold only in specific multi-packs at Target stores. Since the release window has passed, finding one new requires searching online marketplaces or private collector sales.
What makes this Civic Si different from regular Mainline versions?+
The primary difference is the exclusive Spectraflame Deep Blue paint and lightning graphic decal. Regular Mainline Civics typically use solid colors, while this Target Retro variant features a more complex finish designed for adult display.
Does this model have metal parts?+
No, the base material is plastic according to official specifications. This allows for lighter weight and intricate paint details like the Spectraflame effect without the risk of rust or heavy wear associated with diecast metal bodies.
