The story behind the Rip Rod
The Rip Rod brings a blast from the past directly into your collection with its inclusion in the 2023 Hot Wheels Legends Tour Themed Multipack. This unique vehicle pays homage to iconic designs often featured at these traveling exhibitions where fans can meet designers and see prototypes up close. Unlike standard retail releases found on local store shelves, this car appears specifically within a themed multi-pack set designed for enthusiasts who want a curated selection of models in one box. The design features the classic long-hood stance that defines much of early Hot Wheels history. With its distinct blue body and vibrant orange accents, it stands out as a fun representation of custom hot rod culture. Whether you are looking to complete your 2023 multi-pack lineup or simply enjoy the Legends Tour aesthetic, this model adds character and nostalgia.
Materials, colors and value
This specific casting arrives at the standard 1/64 scale familiar to most collectors. The construction uses a metal base for durability while adding plastic components like the orange windows and gray interior details. The color scheme is quite striking with a primary blue body paint job complemented by bold orange sections on the hood area, chassis parts, and window frames. There are also darker blue highlights visible along the sides which add depth to the overall look. It includes black tires with distinct orange wheel rims that match the bright accents found elsewhere on the vehicle. Since it comes from a themed multipack rather than a single card release, its value generally stays moderate unless you find an unopened set.
Questions about the Rip Rod
Is the Rip Rod considered rare or hard to find?+
The Rip Rod is not typically classified as extremely rare since it was released in a themed multipack format. These sets are produced for general retail distribution rather than being limited edition items like Treasure Hunts. However, once sold out from stores they become harder to locate individually unless you purchase the complete sealed pack.
What does the Legends Tour connection mean?+
The Hot Wheels Legends Tour celebrates real life custom cars inspired by famous designs created for the brand. Featuring this car in a themed multipack acknowledges that legacy and allows collectors to own pieces connected to those special events where fans gather to celebrate automotive creativity and design history.
Who designed the Rip Rod model?+
The original creation behind this fun hot rod style casting is credited to designers Fraser Campbell and Alton Takeyasu. Their work brings a playful yet classic feel to modern collections by blending traditional dragster aesthetics with fresh contemporary styling elements seen throughout various Hot Wheels releases.
