The story behind the '68 El Camino
This rugged 1968 El Camino arrives as part of the ZAMAC Themed Multipack released in 2023. Designed by Phil Riehlman, this version captures a distinctively dirty and weathered look that stands out on any shelf. The base material is plastic which supports a heavy coat of metallic finish across the body panels. You will find unpainted sections mixed with bright ZAMAC plating to give it an industrial feel right off the card. It carries official Hot Wheels Speedshop graphics along the side doors and hood area for extra character. This model belongs in themed multi-packs rather than standard mainline releases so you must look specifically inside those special sets to locate this unique car.
Materials, colors and value
Collectors appreciate how this piece uses a plastic base underneath heavy metallic plating. The body features an unpainted silver tone that resembles raw ZAMAC metal with intentional brown rust effects layered over the surface details for maximum grit and realism. Inside you see black interiors paired with clear windows while the wheels offer black spokes surrounded by bright orange rims. This 1/64 scale vehicle fits perfectly into smaller display cases or alongside other garage themed cars from similar sets.
Questions about the '68 El Camino
Is this Hot Wheels El Camino a Treasure Hunt?+
This specific car is not marked as a standard treasure hunt model found in blind bags. Instead it comes packaged inside the special ZAMAC themed multipack collection released during 2023 so you need to buy that entire set directly to guarantee finding this exact vehicle version.
What materials make up this diecast car?+
The foundation of this model relies entirely on molded plastic rather than heavy metal casting. However Mattel applies thick layers of metallic paint over that surface which mimics the visual weight and shine usually associated with true zinc alloy ZAMAC bodies.
Can I buy these cars individually?+
Since this vehicle belongs to a themed multipack series you generally cannot purchase just one standalone copy. Shoppers typically need to acquire the complete box set containing multiple vehicles together in order to collect every distinct design included within that particular release group.
