The story behind the '99 Honda Civic Type R (EK9)
The '99 Honda Civic Type R (EK9) stands out as a true gem from the 2025 Hot Wheels lineup because of where you can find it. This model was released specifically for the 39th Annual Hot Wheels Collectors Convention, making it an exclusive piece that does not appear in standard retail stores. It represents the high-performance spirit of late-1990s Japanese sports cars, capturing the aggressive look of the original vehicle with precision. Because convention exclusives are produced only for attendees and special guests at these annual events, they hold a unique status among fans who appreciate limited-edition releases.
Materials, colors and value
This diecast model features a metal body painted in gloss white to mimic the classic racing aesthetic found on real performance builds. It showcases detailed red side panels and silver lettering along the doors that adds visual depth and contrast against the clean exterior finish. The car sits at a standard 1/64 scale, which allows collectors to see intricate details like the clear windows revealing metallic red interior components. Gold wheels complete the sporty appearance while maintaining accuracy to the real-life inspiration.
