The story behind the '96 Chevrolet Impala SS
The '96 Chevrolet Impala SS arrives in 2026 as part of the HW Torque assortment within the Mainline series. This diecast model captures the late-1990s full-size muscle sedan with a modern, stylized twist that fits the Hot Wheels aesthetic perfectly. Designed by Brendon Vetuskey, this car is a core retail release found in standard blind bags and packs at major retailers worldwide. Because it belongs to the Mainline assortment, it is produced in high volumes for casual fans and serious collectors alike who want to complete their yearly sets. The Impala SS has been a fan favorite silhouette due to its long hood and boxy profile, making this 1/64 scale version an easy addition to any shelf display without needing to hunt down rare variants or chase exclusives.
Materials, colors and value
This model features a plastic base with a striking metalflake teal body that shifts in light. The design includes burnt orange window tints and black interior details, creating a sharp contrast against the metallic paint job. Gold-toned wheels add a touch of flair to the overall look. As a Mainline release from 2026, it is intended for general retail availability rather than limited distribution. While not rare, its distinctive color combination makes it stand out in mixed collections. Collectors often seek these colorful variants to represent specific years or themes in their display cases.
