The story behind the Kool Kombi
The Kool Kombi brings a wave of retro style to your collection as part of the 2023 Surf's Up series in the core Mainline assortment. Designed by Tony Martino, this model captures the classic vibe of customized vans from decades past. It sits perfectly within Hot Wheels history while offering fresh details that keep it exciting for modern fans. The bright yellow body stands out instantly on any track or shelf display. This release fits right into the everyday lineup but carries special charm thanks to its unique decals and surf theme. Collectors appreciate how these Mainline models mix nostalgia with new creativity every year.
Materials, colors and value
Built primarily from durable plastic, this Kool Kombi measures at a standard 1/64 scale for easy handling and storage. The exterior shines in yellow paint, complemented by black trim along the base. Inside you can spot light brown or brown interiors depending on which version you find. Window treatments vary between smoke tint, gray, and clear options across different production runs. Since it is a common Mainline model rather than a limited edition piece, individual copies generally hold modest monetary value today unless found in pristine unopened packaging.
Questions about the Kool Kombi
Is the Kool Kombi Hot Wheels car rare?+
No, this vehicle belongs to the standard Mainline assortment released during 2023. These cars are produced in large quantities for general retail shelves worldwide. Because they were widely available at major stores and online platforms throughout that year, finding one loose or sealed is usually quite easy without needing to pay high prices.
What does the 1992-2022 decal mean on this van?+
The graphic printed clearly on the driver's side door marks a thirty-year anniversary. It specifically highlights three decades spanning from nineteen ninety-two to twenty-twenty-two. This detail likely celebrates an era or theme associated with surf culture rather than marking the actual founding date of Hot Wheels itself.
Does this model have metal parts?+
According to our records, the primary body construction relies on plastic materials instead of diecast zinc alloy. While some premium series feature heavier metal components, regular Mainline releases often use lighter plastics for cost efficiency during mass manufacturing processes while still maintaining great durability.
