The story behind the Renault Sport R.S. 01
The Renault Sport R.S. 01 made a splash in the Hot Wheels world as part of the HW Turbo series back in 2023. Designed by Ryu Asada, this sleek race car captures high-performance aesthetics with its aggressive aerodynamic lines and prominent rear wing. What truly sets this specific casting apart is its status as a Super Treasure Hunt. Unlike standard Mainline releases that roll off production lines daily, STH models are special limited runs hidden within regular cases for lucky shoppers to find. The R.S. 01 carries the coveted Spectraflame finish on certain versions, giving it an unmistakable shine that separates it from common finds.
Materials, colors and value
This model comes in a classic 1/64 scale and utilizes a durable plastic base material typical of Hot Wheels Mainline vehicles. Collectors will notice distinct color variations depending on the specific variant found. Some examples feature standard Bright Red paint, while others display that rare Spectraflame Cherry finish which catches light beautifully. The interior is consistently black across all versions, paired with various window tints including gray and smoke options to match the exterior tone. Because of its STH designation, this car holds higher value than regular stock numbers.
Questions about the Renault Sport R.S. 01
How can I tell if my Renault Sport R.S. 01 is a Super Treasure Hunt?+
You should look for the unique flame logo printed on the base of the car near the front wheels. Additionally, true STH versions often feature Spectraflame paint rather than standard metallic finishes. This special coating has an iridescent quality that shifts slightly in different lighting conditions.
What is the current collector value for this 2023 model?+
Values fluctuate based on market demand and condition, but Super Treasure Hunt models generally command higher prices than regular releases. Unopened examples with original packaging tend to fetch more money online compared to loose pieces due to better preservation of details.
Is the HW Turbo series rare for Hot Wheels collectors?+
The HW Turbo assortment itself is part of the standard Mainline lineup, meaning many cars in it are common. However, when a specific model within that group receives Super Treasure Hunt treatment like this R.S. 01 does, its scarcity increases significantly regardless of the broader series popularity.
