The story behind the RD-06
The RD-06 arrived in the 2025 Hot Wheels lineup as a bold entry within the HW DESIGNED BY series. This assortment highlights imaginative concepts that push traditional design boundaries, often featuring open-wheel racing aesthetics with futuristic flair. As part of the core Mainline collection released annually to toy stores worldwide, this model is accessible yet distinctive thanks to its striking green body paired with vivid pink interior accents and ZAMAC base details visible through its clear windows. While not a limited Treasure Hunt or Chase variant, the RD-06 stands out among regular releases for its aggressive styling. sweeping rear wings, exposed mechanical elements finished in chrome-like metal, and glitter-infused tires that catch the light during play or display.
Materials, colors and value
Built on a sturdy metal base with ZAMAC trim showing through transparent windows, this car features a bright green exterior shell contrasted by hot pink interior components. The clear plastic cockpit cover lets collectors see inside while protecting delicate decals and paintwork typical of HW DESIGNED BY models. At standard 1/64 scale, it fits seamlessly into any starter or advanced collection without taking excessive shelf space. Though not ultra-rare, its eye-catching color combination makes it a favorite among fans who appreciate vibrant finishes in everyday Mainline releases.
Questions about the RD-06
Is the RD-06 Hot Wheels car rare?+
No, the RD-06 is not considered rare since it belongs to the regular Mainline series produced each year. You can find it in stores like Walmart and Target without needing special hunts or conventions. However, its bold green-and-pink color scheme makes it more noticeable than average models.
How do I know if my RD-06 is authentic?+
Check for proper branding on the base including SKU HYX82 and correct 1/64 scale proportions. Authentic versions have clean paint lines, intact decals near the front wheel arches, and consistent ZAMAC coloring under clear windows compared to counterfeits which may show blurry logos or off-color interiors.
What makes HW DESIGNED BY cars different?+
HW DESIGNED BY showcases original Hot Wheels creations rather than licensed replicas. These models often feature exaggerated proportions, experimental materials like exposed metal bases, and playful color combos such as the green exterior with pink interior seen on this RD-06 variant.
