The story behind the Drone Duty
The Drone Duty brings a futuristic flair to the Hot Wheels lineup with its bold green bodywork and sleek design elements that suggest advanced technology. Released in 2023 as part of the HW Metro series, this model fits perfectly into the Mainline assortment, which consists of core retail cars released every year for collectors worldwide. Designed by Fraser Campbell, the car captures a sense of motion with its angular styling and open cockpit area that hints at high-speed utility vehicles often seen in sci-fi settings. Although it is not a limited edition or special chase model, the Drone Duty stands out due to its unique aesthetic within the standard Mainline range. Collectors who appreciate modern interpretations of vehicle design will find this piece an interesting addition to their shelf. Its placement in the HW Metro series adds another layer of thematic connection for those following specific Hot Wheels sub-brands.
Materials, colors and value
Crafted from plastic, the Drone Duty features a vibrant green body paired with black base components and interior details that create a striking contrast. The 1/64 scale allows it to sit comfortably on any display shelf alongside other diecast models while retaining visible design cues like its distinctive wheels and cabin structure. As a Mainline car, this model is generally accessible for collectors looking to build out their collection without seeking rare variants. While specific collector value can fluctuate based on market demand, standard issue cars from recent years typically hold stable prices in the secondary market unless they become discontinued or highly sought after by niche groups.
